Winterfest

Winterfest, the annual Westside music festival, is approaching. So mark your calendars, and get ready for skits, dancing, and song!
Next week, the traditional event is performing, featuring the exploratories Just Dance, Improvisation and Acting, and Glee. The Middle School's Winterfest is held in Grace Church on Tuesday, December 16th.  This event is entirely separate from the lower school, which is being held on Monday, December 15th. The decision to have two different Winterfests came about when Westside grew, in order to accommodate all the grades being added it. The exploratories in this events are organized by our performing arts teachers, Jillian and Sue.
Feel free to bring friends to this event.  We are sure you (and your guests) will be impressed by the amount of work Westside Middle School Students have put into it, not to mention the entertainment itself!

7th Grade Plant Growth

By Kieran
Seen anything interesting lately? Well, here's something….in the seventh grade, Sarah has the students working on a project where they are taking care of their own plants and animals. They started this unit October 21st and are still working on it!  The plants they are taking care of are Wisconsin Fast Plants.  They are also taking care of caterpillars, which are about one centimeter long. Recently, students took the seeds from the plants and gave them to the caterpillars. Lots of mini units have come with this project, such as examining their plants and caterpillars, feeding them, and taking care of them.  It's the first time Sarah's done it, and she's very excited about it. She hopes that the 7th grade students will learn about the science of living creatures, plants and animals. You should go check it out!
